Autumn is here – colourful, crisp, and . Let’s get out to enjoy it with our families! So, what are some fun things you can do with friends and family in the Greater Saint John area this fall?

Fruit Picking

Fruit picking is one of those classic fall activities. Getting to stroll through orchards on a crisp day is unique and relaxing… takes us back to simpler times.

It’s a great day trip with your family and you get some exercise in while you do it! Fruit picking is a great lead into other fall activities too, like baking an apple pie or making some homemade jams.

If you haven’t been out to the Kingston Peninsula yet this year…what are you waiting for.  2 great spots include Mackay Apple Orchard and Bostwick’s U-Pick Apples. Fruit picking is really fun and could be a great family tradition for you and your family!

Breweries

Next, you should check out some of our Breweries. And now we move on to those other Fall Activities. For those who enjoy adult beverages, we’ve got wineries and breweries you can visit here in Southern NB:

First City Brewery, Big Tide Brewing, Loyalist City Brewing Co, Moosehead Small Batch, Picaroon’s General Store, Hammond River Brewing, Foghorn Brewing Company, Long Bay Brewery, Hampton Brewing Co, Gridiron Brewing, Yip Cider, and Sussex Ale Works.  Many of these breweries have have awesome pubs for you to enjoy too, so get on out to these great breweries!

Wineries

We have some nice wineries to enjoy as well.  Dunhams Run Estate Winery, Gillis of Belle Isle Winery, and Happy Knight Wines

There is something special about wineries, and just walking through them peacefully, having some samples and taking a bottle home.

Hiking in the Fall Colours

Next, you should get out with your family this fall and enjoy the fall colours with a nice hike. We have an abundance of beautiful trails, parks, and waterfalls throughout southern NB.  Everything from the Irving Nature Park, Fundy National Park, Rockwood Park, and Saint Martins Sea Caves, to the Minister’s Island Perimeter Trail, and the Sussex Bluffs.  Get some great exercise and bask in all the natural beauty Southern New Brunswick has to offer!

Go for a Drive

One of these weekends just go for a drive and see where the road takes you! Maybe you’ll happen across a winery or brewery that draws you in. Maybe you’ll find a great hiking spot, or a place to picnic. Be adventurous, and you’ll be sure to find something excellent!

There’s a few ideas for you and your family this fall. These places are mostly outdoors too, so there’s less to worry about during the pandemic. Fresh air and safe activities do wonders for the body and mind.
